The World Day against Child Labour is widely supported by these actors, along with UN agencies and individuals committed to building a world free of child labour.
The International Labour Organisation (ILO) on Tuesday said that it was working with the Federal Government and some States to eliminate child labour in the country by 2025.
END NOW! EVERYWHERE!

Child labour comprises work that children are too young to perform and/or work that, by its nature or circumstances, is likely to harm children’s health, safety or morals.
ILO Director-General, Gilbert Houngbo
2026 Message
Today, nearly 138 million children remain in child labour, including 54 million in hazardous work.
This is unacceptable – we must accelerate action.
Marrakech Global Framework for Action against Child Labour gives us a roadmap grounded in decent work for parents, universal quality education, social protection and stronger laws and institutions.
For the first time, it includes clear indicators of progress and a built-in accountability mechanism to track implementation and to keep child labour high on the global agenda beyond 2030.
This year's theme – "Red Card to Child Labour: Fair play for children, decent work for adults" – reminds us that every child has the right to learn, to play and to grow up protected and safe.
Together, let us act with urgency and determination to end child labour.

The 2026 World Day comes at a decisive moment. The 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour, held in Marrakech, reaffirmed the urgent need to accelerate action and translate commitments into concrete results. The Marrakech Global Framework for Action against Child Labour provides a concrete roadmap and indicators for tackling child labour through integrated responses that address root causes and protect every child’s rights.
Under the slogan “Red card to child labour: Fair play for children, decent work for adults”, the 2026 World Day Against Child Labour campaign calls for reinforced action on the policies that prevent child labour and withdrawn children from it: quality education, universal social protection, decent work and adequate livelihoods for adults, stronger laws and enforcement, better data and monitoring systems, and responsible action in agriculture and supply chains.
This action is urgently needed. Despite progress, 138 million children remain in child labour worldwide, including nearly 54 million in hazardous work.
On this World Day Against Child Labour, raise the Red card to child labour. Mobilize, speak out and act to turn the Marrakech commitments into real change for children, families and communities everywhere.
